ABB's 9T83 Drive Isolation Transformers (DIT) are designed to specifically handle the mechanical stresses, voltage distortions, and harmonics associated with silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR) or Thyristor applications. Drive Isolation Transformers have symmetrically placed taps and added coil bracing to withstand the mechanical forces caused by severe SCR or thyristor duty cycles. These features also help to protect the transformer from the regenerative duty and more frequent momentary short-circuits associated with SCR commutation. The 9T83 DITs are UL Listed for installations outside of Canada and are exempt from DOE regulations. Qualified to the seismic requirements of IEEE-693-2005 and IBC-2021 and CBC 2022.
